Looking to save a little money? Do-it-Yourself wedding projects will save you a ton! First thing to know, Michaels and Joanns Fabrics are great stores, but do not forget the coupons before you go! Joanns has an app you can download and there are coupons on there weekly, like 40-50% off a single item, sometimes total purchase. Michaels has coupons in the Sunday paper. You can also sign up for email updates and receive a coupon weekly via email. In wedding magazines, you will find lots there too! So start saving!

Wedding tip - curl with a flat iron

Sunday, February, 26 2012   •   Hair, Makeup, & Beauty   •   by Dynamite Weddings

Ok, so you don't need a "special" flat iron to get those bouncing curls you always wanted! It is so easy! So if you have a flat iron for the days you want straight, you can use it for curls too! First brush your hair, then take a piece of hair the same width of the inside of your flat iron or smaller and go over it with the iron. Take the flat iron half up your strand of hair, close it and curl the flat iron under with hair still hanging out of the flat iron, leave for a few seconds, then pull flat iron down and hair through it, the slower you pull hair through flat iron, the curlier it will be. And repeat until you have done each strand. Enjoy those bouncy, curly locks!

Wedding tip - dyson vacuum

Saturday, February, 25 2012   •   Gifts & Registry   •   by Dynamite Weddings

According to popular belief, one of the best vacuums is the dyson ball. The dyson ball vacuum not only cleans carpets great, but will self adjust and lower depending on the floor type. We love that! The dyson ball has super strong suction power to remove dirt and pet hair easily...even pet hair that is hard to get. It even has a quick draw wand to make it easy to reach hard places, stairs, curtains, behind furniture, under beds, etc. The dyson has a few different styles so check out the one that will work for you.

Ask Marvin - receiving line drinks

Friday, February, 24 2012   •   Etiquette   •   by Dynamite Weddings

Dear Marvin,

My fiance has proposed tequila shots at the receiving line. It sounds tacky, and my older relatives will be appalled. I don't want to be a jerk, but... what do I do?

Please help!
-Utterly Confused

Dear Utterly Confused,

Tacky? Possibly. Trouble, for sure! If your guy does shot after shot on the receiving line, imagine how he will be once he gets to the last guest! If he even makes it at all. Instead, offer tequila shots for the toast-along with Champagne. You want this to be a night you both remember, and there will be guests you don't see everyday so lets not get too tipsy if you know what I mean! Cheers!

Wedding hair - fish tail braid

Thursday, February, 23 2012   •   Hair, Makeup, & Beauty   •   by Dynamite Weddings

Have you seen how braids are all the rave these days? Our fav is the Fish Tail braid! It is so pretty and easy to create! The fish tail braid is also known as the Harringbone and Fishbone braid. It looks elaborate and time consuming but its not. It's really fun and easy to do!

Step 1 - Pull hair to side if you are wearing it on the side, then divide into two sections
Step 2 - Pull a thick strand of hair from the outside of the first section over itself, and add it to the second section.
Step 3 - Do the same for the other side. Pull a skinny strand of hair out from the outside of the second section, and add it to the first section. Err on the side of making it loose.
Step 4 - Keep repeating the steps until you reach the end of your hair.
Step 5 - Finish your fishtail braid off by tying your hair with an elastic. Add a cute ribbon or charm to give it some personality if you'd like!

Wedding tip - Casafina dishes

Tuesday, February, 21 2012   •   Gifts & Registry   •   by Dynamite Weddings

When you register you will want to register for China, but don't forget everyday dishware too! Check out Casafina dishes. These dishes are amazing; they not only go in the oven, microwave, dishwasher, but even the freezer! Wow! That's a new one! These Portuguese dishes come in a variety of styles and colors; our favorite is Forum in Cognac. These plates are hand-formed "irregular" shapes embellished with a medieval coin. They have a very warm traditional feel to them. Check out www.casafinagifts.com for all their dish styles.
