When choosing your china for the wedding, don't stick to plain colors. If you love intricate pieces make sure to pick the dishes that reflect your taste. Try Celebrations Party Rentals, they have a great selection of rental china and are terrific to work with!
If you do choose to go with fancy wedding dishes, keep your linens and florals rather simple. If you have a floral print on your dishes you could even do a simple fruit centerpiece or have a planter with grass to give it a cool natural feel. Whatever you choose to do, don't overdo it. You might like a bunch of different busy decorations, but they may not all look as good together.

Your wedding day pictures should tell a story. The story of how these two lives have come together in love, where they will go from here and how their love will grow. And who doesn't love love?!
These days many photographers have been taking detail shots of just parts of the body to help tell that story. For example, the bride putting her shoes on meaning she is on her way to the alter. The bride and grooms bodies meaning they are happily married and walking out man and wife. Some may take offense to cutting their heads out of the picture, but this makes the story a little bit more dramatic and passionate. And, of course, there will be lots of photos WITH their heads!
Wedding Trend - Incorporate Hobbies into Engagement Pictures
Thursday, August, 26 2010 • Photography • by Dynamite Weddings
When taking your engagement pictures make sure you go over a couple of things with your photographer. You want these photographs to represent who you are as a couple. A great way to do that is to incorporate a hobby of yours into the photos. This can be anything from golf to biking and everything in between.
The Memory Journalists really know how to incorporate this into their engagement sessions. They call it their "date night" session. These date nights consist of what the couple loves to do on their own typical date night. It usually includes some sort of hobby or activity. What hobby will you use for your engagement photo shoot?
Okay everyone...THIS IS SUPER IMPORTANT!!! Our sister company (and owner of Dynamite Weddings), The Memory Journalists needs your help! Here's a post from Jennifer...
As some of you know The Memory Journalists are getting into the film (aka video) side of photography. We call it "motion" photography, vs still photography. We recently attended a Canan sponsored workshop in Portland where we each had to come up with a 30 second commercial for a Canon Powershot camera. There were several cities on the workshop tour with a total of 20 submissions. There are BIG things in it for the overall winner, AND we just made the top 5 cut - which were chosen internally by the company who taught the workshop, StillMotion Photo & Cinema.
Now it's open to the public to vote for their favorite commercial out of the top 5! We are asking that you vote for us.
Here's the details...Click on this link -

click on my name (jennifer - Portland)
and click the word "vote"
Ask you friends, spouses, co-workers, etc. to vote too! Vote today. Voting is only open until Sunday and your vote counts. Of course, please watch all 5 entries and vote for your favorite...but we hope it's ours!
Many people have commented to me that our wonderful model looks like a mini-Jennifer. Wearing pink, a hat, painted toe nails with polka dots. I guess I never thought of that as I scouted for our model but now I laugh as she does remind me of me. We were given about 4 hours to pick our script, storyboard our commercial, and then go shoot. We had a team of 4 people: a director (me), Camera A, and Camera B and our lighting person. I hand picked this beautiful little girl, a complete stranger, from a water park in Portland close by where our workshop was held. She was the best model EVER!
Here is our commercial...you can also watch it on the link above.

If you want to add something different to your wedding day bouquet, try binding the florals together with some rope. This gives your overall look a laid back, barn chic theme. Most florists have perfected this look, but if you want someone who is great at it try Ambience Floral Design. They can help you get that overall feel of a custom gorgeous bouquet.
Rope tied florals are amazing for backyard and barnyard chic weddings. The rope definitely elaborates on the overall theme. As long as your dress and accessories go with this same theme, you should be just fine!
Try one of these cute little mason jars as your vase for your centerpiece. You can buy these mason jars in bulk so it will help cut costs and you can put that extra cash into a great florist. Try Ambience Floral Design to help you pick the perfect arrangement for your day!
You can also fill these centerpiece mason jars with sand about a quarter of the way and add tea light candles. This would go great with a beach theme or outdoor wedding. The lighting is beautiful and the centerpiece mason jars won't cost you a fortune either!
Who wants the same old matchy matchy chairs? Play it up and grab all your favorite chairs! Mix them all up and use them at your wedding reception. The eclectic and edgy style will definitely earn you applause from many guests. It will also be a great ice breaker for folks sitting at tables with other guests they don't know well.
Once you figure out what you want as a favor, try to add a message to it. This short and sweet message will convey your meaning of love to your guests. Don't forget to add your names and wedding date so none of the guests can forget you!
Here are some great short and sweet quotes for your wedding favor message:
"When you love someone, all your saved-up wishes start coming out."
"You love simply because you cannot help it."
"True love begins when nothing is looked for in return."
"My night has become a sunny dawn because of you."
"Love is the poetry of the senses."
When you are planning an antique style wedding, try adding subtle touches to give your wedding an overall theme that is quaint and classy. You don't want to go over the top with every decoration as an old vintage piece because that can be a bit much at times. A little bit of this and a little bit of that goes a long way.
For vintage weddings you can incorporate intricate silverware that looks like it has been aged. This way your decoration will not go unnoticed unless your guess decides not to eat. This will be a gorgeous subtle touch that I am sure many guests will take notice!
If you have always loved butterflies and want to incorporate this theme into your wedding, you can do this in many obvious ways. You can do a butterfly release, sticking to a certain butterfly to use as a color scheme and by scattering random butterflies in your decoration. Why not keep your other decorations a bit more plain and give a real pop with your linens?
Try a beautiful butterfly linen for an outdoor wedding! Gorgeous decorative linens help give an extra oomph to your decorations, but you can help balance costs by keeping everything else relatively simple. Try a gorgeous linen from Mimi & Co. They have a wide variety of luxurious linens that will make your day a one of a kind affair!
