Wedding Tip - Whiter teeth before wedding day

Sunday, July, 31 2011   •   Hair, Makeup, & Beauty   •   by Dynamite Weddings

Want whiter teeth before your wedding day? We'd all love whiter teeth, however, it can be an expensive trip to the dentist or several pricey boxes of Crest white strips. If you run out of time or money and want whiter teeth, we have a quick and easy tip that you can do to give the appearance of whiter teeth on your wedding day. Try a brighter color of lipstick in a cool or neutral tone (berry reds and blue pinks, not orange, red or peachy pinks) will help make your teeth look whiter. Now you can flash those pearly teeth with the appearance of pearly whites!

Wedding Tip - Registry checklist for the Newly engaged

Saturday, July, 30 2011   •   Gifts & Registry   •   by Dynamite Weddings

Congratulations on your engagement!! Now that it has been a few weeks, you need to start thinking about where you will register and what items you want on your registry. Once you figure out your date, sign up at two to four stores (seven to nine months before the wedding) and add several items from $10.00 and up. Remember to include low ticketed items too, not just high priced items. And, don't forget to check them periodically as you may need to add more items as you go. Keep in mind creating your wedding registry with your future hubby can be super fun. It's fun because he gets to add a few things he might like to have too. Also, be mindful of the items you choose. Guests who buy off a registry want to feel some sort of connection or relation to the gift they choose. If you and your friends enjoy wine together, they will love purchasing wine related items off your registry. Some of the more mundane items like bathmats and bath towels, while nice, might not be as fun for guests to buy. Try choosing items that can create an affordable gift theme. For example, a rolling pin and cookie sheet or pie plate and cooling racks. Your guests will be able to afford to get you a couple of fun items that go together and will be put to great use by you in your new married life.

Wedding Tip - Avoid a Wedding day breakout

Friday, July, 29 2011   •   Hair, Makeup, & Beauty   •   by Dynamite Weddings

Try to avoid a wedding day breakout!! The worst thing that can happen is you have a major zit or two on your wedding day! To prevent this from happening be sure not to try any new skin regimens within a few weeks leading up to your wedding. If you do try something new allow at least a month or longer before the big day, just in case you breakout you'll have time to recover! If by chance your face does break out on your big day, do not pick at it. Try icing it a few times a day, 10 minutes at a time. And for more severe breakouts, apply salicylic acid a few times a day. Murad Acne Spot treatment at Sephora is a great spot treatment product you can use on that pimple that's trying to ruin your day.

Who pays for the honeymoon? If we are going according to old-fashioned traditions, the groom's family pays for the honeymoon. But these days the bride and groom usually foot the bill for the honeymoon as well as the wedding! If you are lucky enough to have your parents paying for your wedding and your hubby's parents want to help too, then by all means have them help or pick up the tab for your honeymoon. But there is no need to be pushy or insist. If you need help with the money to get you and your hubby to your honeymoon there is always a honeymoon registry.

Wedding Tip - Honeymoon where you don't speak the language

Tuesday, July, 26 2011   •   Honeymoons & Destination Weddings   •   by Dynamite Weddings

If you are thinking of going abroad for your honeymoon, but are having second thoughts because you don't speak the language, don't fret! There are a few things you can do to prepare yourself. Keep in mind most airlines and hotels have multilingual representatives ready to help those who don't speak the language. Also, you can grab a translator guide and brush up on common phrases. For example, 'hello', 'goodbye', 'thank you', 'please', and 'where's the bathroom'. Also, you may consider enrolling in a 6-week language crash course at a language center or community college. Still freaked out about the language barrier? Look into touring groups that can aid you in translation while you tour with them. This might give you just enough to get by during your blissful trip abroad.

Wedding Tip - Make the Marriage legal!

Sunday, July, 24 2011   •   Planning   •   by Dynamite Weddings

Once you begin your journey of planning your wedding you will want to obtain a legal marriage license. In California, you must be at least 18 years old to obtain a marriage license. Anyone under 18 years of age must have parental consent and a court order to apply for a marriage license. The happy couple must apply together and show proof of age with a valid photo identification. The good thing is there is no waiting period to obtain your license and once issued it is good for 90 days anywhere in California. For all you Sacramento area brides, you can call the County Clerk or County Recorder at 916.874.6131 to schedule your appointment. Often this is the appointment when it really sinks in - you're getting married!

Wedding Tip - Wedding Cake Myths

Saturday, July, 23 2011   •   Cakes & Desserts   •   by Dynamite Weddings

Confused about your wedding cake because of all the wedding cake myths out there? We have done the research for you on some current wedding cake myths!

The first myth is that fondant tastes terrible but butter-cream frosting is too messy for wedding cake. There may be truth to these myths for the average home baker but your wedding cake will be created by a professional baker. A professional will know how to work with butter-cream and also know how to make fondant taste delicious. Often, bakers smother the cake with butter-cream first then apply a thin layer of fondant to give the appearance of a smoother look. The fondant melts right into the butter-cream as you eat it and all you taste is the scrumptious butter-cream.

Next myth, wedding cakes are vanilla and boring. Not true! You can go with flavors you like, raspberry, mocha praline or tangerine filling instead of vanilla. Choose chocolate or yellow or red velvet to be added as a color into your butter-cream and/or fondant instead of white. You have options to make your cake rich and bold and yummy tasting too. Few rules remain when it comes to wedding cake so choose the cake you and your guests will love to eat!

Wedding Tip - Wedding Lighting Dos and Don'ts

Friday, July, 22 2011   •   Decorations & Favors   •   by Dynamite Weddings

When it comes to lighting it can either enhance or hinder. Most would agree that the lighting in many dressing rooms is horrible! That's because many stores use dull overhead lights! No matter how many crunches or lunges you do, you still won't love the way you look in the mirror under this type of lighting! You will want to consider this and other details before you choose the lighting for your wedding ceremony and reception. We found a few rules to assist you with lighting on your big day.

Don't just limit yourself with candles. A few small votive candles and big pillar candles look so nice on reception tables. However, if you have an indoor wedding, up-lights can make a room look better, especially a ballroom. For an outdoor wedding, pathway lighting is important to prevent your guests from breaking an ankle or hip. If you have an outdoor trellis at your nuptial site, hanging small white lights will give a nice aesthetic and can set the mood for the reception. Also, if you are getting married in the evening visit the site at around the same time in the evening to see exactly what you will need to do with lighting.
